By: Alex Cummings

The stars of the Carolina Clash will be making their way to the series finale for the “Clash Bash” in Fayetteville, NC. Fayetteville has long been known as the home track for the Carolina Clash. Fayetteville Motor Speedway has held a Carolina Clash race every year the series has been operating and was one of the original two tracks that the Clash starting out racing at. The race will be a special “Tribute Race” in memory of the late Jack Starrette who is a member in the Carolina Clash Hall of Fame.

This trip will mark the series 5th appearance at the track this season with each trip resulting in a different winner. The first race at Fayetteville which was held in early April saw Dean Bowen win his second race of the year in the Ed Gibbons Memorial. The Carolina Clash came back to Fayetteville on June 5th with Jordan Bland being able to come out on top for the $4,000 victory. The 3rd appearance for the Carolina Clash was held on August 14th and “Mr. Consistency” Ricky Weeks took the win that evening. The last appearance for the Carolina Clash was on October 9th when Dustin Mitchell brought home his first career Carolina Clash win at his home track.

With 4 races and 4 different winners, the competition has been stout at Fayetteville. Fayetteville has also produced the best car count average for any track on the Carolina Clash Series this season. You can always expect a full field of cars and then some when you roll into the gates at Fayetteville.

The Carolina Clash has also seen 9 different drivers make their way to victory lane this season; Dean Bowen, Austin Dillon, Johnny Pursley, Ricky Weeks, Jordan Bland, Luke Roffers, Kennie Compton Jr., Jeff Smith, and Dustin Mitchell have all graced victory lane this season. The Carolina Clash has seen 6 first time winners this season including Bland, Roffers, Compton. Jr, Mitchell, Bowen, and Dillon. 5 drivers so far this season have graced victory lane multiple times including Bowen, Dillon, Pursley, Smith, and Weeks. Ricky Weeks is the only driver with 3 wins on the season. With 9 different winners in 15 races and 6 of those 9 winners being first timers, it’s anyone’s race on November 13th.

The points are hot and heavy with Dennis Franklin grasping onto a 40 point lead over Dean Bowen which is the difference between 1st and 8th in the finishing order. Ricky Weeks currently sits 3rd in points with a 40 point advantage over Jay Sessoms. Jeff Smith rounds out your top 5 currently heading into the season finale at Fayetteville.

The race will surely be a nail bitter with just 40 points separating the top 2 contenders for the 2010 Carolina Clash Championship. It will come down to the final lap at Fayetteville so make sure you don’t miss a beat in the action filled “Clash Bash” season finale.
