.TWO WEEKS AND COUNTING: 2008 NORTH GEORGIA SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENER ANOTHER SRO EVENT? O'SAS SERIES RACE #4 HEADS TO DALTON/CHATSWORTH

CHATSWORTH, Ga. (2/25/08) -- The O'Reilly Southern All-Star series will take to the North Georgia Speedway in two weeks for the 2008 OPENER of the "NASTY FAST" dirt track in Dalton/Chatsworth, Georgia. Slated for Saturday night, March 8th, the 3rd edition of the "Ernest Young Memorial" race will take place and many Dirt Super Late Model regional superstars are planning on competing for the $5,000 first place prize. The O'SAS series plays host to many top Southern raceteams, but many local area SLM racers from Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolina's, Florida and Alabama will be vying for the over $20,000 total purse.
Last year "THE DIRTY WHITE BOY" Anthony White (# 2X) of Clinton, TN, racked up the season opener $5,000. payday with win over Jimmy Owens and Dale McDowell (# 17M) under the THUNDER series flag. A record amount of attendees and competitors flooded the facility in 2007, unfortunately many fans getting to the race-track past 8PM were denied access by local law enforcement, out on Hwy. 225, due to the Standing Room Only crowd. On the track, that evening, the "TANK" Shane Tankersley clocked the fast-time in 2007 of the 59 entries, that was a who's who of regional racing talent. Multi and Reigning Track Champion Gary McPherson of nearby Dalton, GA, finished fourth in the season opener last season, before collecting many wins en route to his 2007 title.
Already in 2008 a trio of O'SAS sanctioned races has produced a two winners from the South Georgia series opener. Several drivers declared their intent to run for O'SAS points and the Cleveland (TN) Speedway Driving School Rookie of the Year title. Rookie candidates include: Jason Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, FL, Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, GA, Anthony Hill of Carrollton, GA, Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Brent Dixon of Elberton, GA. Alabama hot-shoe Dingus Griffin and BLACKMAGIC are expected to declare at the North Georgia Speedway event and other drivers expected to be vying for the series title include; Reigning Series Champion Ivedant Lloyd of Ocala, FL, 2007 ROTY Stacy Holmes of Munford, AL, GR Smith of Huntersville, NC and 2007 SAS-East Champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA.
The 2008 NGS track opener, race #4 on the O'SAS series tour, should be lined with many Northern Georgia, Carolina and Tennessee Valley based SLM racers. With the like of Aaron Ridley, The Chastain Bros. (Johnny and Shawn) with the MURPHY MAFIA brigade, Bear Patterson, Brian Hickman, the ROCKETMAN Rodney Martin, Greg Knight, Tony Martin, Randy Burrows and many many more, racers and teams are looking to kick-start their respective season. Besides the local frey of challengers from the North Georgia "DAWGS" of the Super Late Model ranks, expect some entries from top regional racing stars to include possibly; the "TARHEEL TIGER" Ray Cook, as well as Chattanooga, TN's own Ronnie Johnson. Other possible entries based on their 2007 NGS victories and top finishes include World of Outlaw Late Model series superstar CATDADDY Clint Smith as well as 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP runner-up the GEORGIA GIANT Shane Clanton.

WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUES 2008 SEASON OPENER IN DAVENPORT, IOWA, IS RESCHEDULED
Winter weather forces move of race date by one week to allow more time for track preparation By Phil Roberts, Media Coordinator WORLD Dirt Racing League Gilman City, Mo. (Feb. 26, 2008) The date for the WORLD Dirt Racing Leagues 2008 season opener at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway is being revised. The race, originally set for Saturday, April 5, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 12, according to WDRLs Jim Wilson. Sunday, April 13, is being reserved as a rain date, if needed. Iowa has had a particularly hard winter, with a lot of snow,Wilson said.
