WINKY MCGEE GETTIN' IT DONE WITH FRIENDSHIP VICTORY...
The four-tenth mile Friendship Motor Speedway was back at it again this past Saturday night for yet another evening of thrills and spills. Excitement would be on hand in each and every division down to the last checkered flag in the last feature event as many fans would stay to the very end cheering for their favorite to win. This week featured the second 2010 weekly championship night of racing action with all five divisions known as the Flow Automotive Crate Late Models, Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman, Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, Basic Finance Renegade V-8, and the Unsponsored U-Car division.
In the Flow Automotive Crate Late Model event, "The Bounty Hunter" Winky McGee would head to the point early over a hard charging Keith Holder. Holder would ride second with third on back trading hands several times throughout the event. When all thirty laps was complete it would be Winky McGee of Pilot Mountain holding on the the lead to roll his Chevrolet into the 600/1200 WSJS "The Traid's NewsRadio" Winners Circle. Keith Holder would hold on to second. Justin Hudspeth would show strong once again as he would go from third to the rear and back to finish in third. Chase McCormick would show strong in fourth with Andrew Durham rounding out the top five this week.
In the Southeastern Cars & Parts Limited Sportsman race, Joel Bray would be the only driver of the night to claim back to back wins as he would be the man to beat once again. Shawn Robinson would have a strong run in second with Jeff Parsons in third. Jerry Bray would break out the new car this week with a decent fourth place finish. Big George Anen would claim fifth.
In the Elkin Quick Lube Four Cylinders, this would be the money race of the night as there would be six hundred dollars up for grabs on this special event. Trent Chatham of Taylorsville would lead the way from start to finish to roll into the WSJS Winners Circle. Robbie Brown would cruise to second over last weeks feature winner Billy Robbins in third. Kevin Atwell would finish fourth with Jessica Mendenhall in fifth.
In the Basic Finance Renegade V-8 division, this would be one heck of a race that would turn into some what of an enduro race. Many fans would stay until the very last lap as this division would close out the events. Derek Mastin and Jason Donahue would be the cars to beat as these two would battle until Mastin would find himself done for the night after a hard crash into the inside wall on the backstretch. Jason Donahue would cruise to victory with the only other car running Jennifer Collins would finish second. Fabian Anderson would claim third with Derek Mastin in fourth. Garrett Vernon would round out the top five.
In the Unsponsored U-Car feature, Britton Settle would return in style for his first event of the season. Settle would challenge last weeks feature winner Richard Reeves for the top spot. Settle would get by and would not settle for less as he would lead to the checkers to drive his machine into the 600/1200 WSJS Winners Circle. Richard Reeves would come home second this week with yet another strong run. Rick Long would finish a back to back third. Austin Caulde would finish fourth with fifth going to Zachary Lankford.
