OWENS RACES UP TO FIFTH IN DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!
Jimmy Owens and his #20 team traveled to the 5/8-mile West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia over the October 15-16 weekend for the 30th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship.' The crown jewel event drew 53 competitors to "The Speedplant" and all eyes were on the $50,000 top prize. On Friday night, Jimmy timed in tenth fastest during the qualifying session and later won his stacked heat race.
When the action resumed on Saturday evening and all of the competitors were given their qualifying time back, Jimmy lined up ninth on the grid in the 100-lap 'Dirt Track World Championship.' The Newport, Tennessee native was one of the few movers during the DTWC, as he passed four cars en route to a solid fifth place performance. Jimmy crossed underneath the checkers behind only winner Earl Pearson, Jr., Shane Clanton, Steve Francis, and Jonathan Davenport
